My ethical practice

When I set up This Demanding Life I knew I wanted to create something special. A business which was community minded, collaborative and ethical. I have sustainability at the forefront of my mind and business practices. My ethical practice promises are below:

When we work together (whether it’s an enquiry or a commissioned project).

What you can expect from me

  • I will get to know you, your business and customers to create an amazing website for you.

  • I will behave professionally and with courteousy.

  • I will honour fees I have quoted and if these need to change due to your project expanding or being outside the time limit of the time quoted, I will explain the new fees and different options available to you.

  • I will reply to any communication with you quickly, I will not ghost you. I expect the same courtesy from you.

  • I will behave in accordance of my Terms of Service, which you will be sent at the time of quoting, again at the time of agreeing to work together and they will be made available to you at any time, should you request them.

  • I will promote Diversity, Equality and Inclusion on my own website as well as my clients websites. I will ensure all our websites are accessible to users, including working well with screen readers and other accessibility tools.

What I won’t do

  • I won’t inflate my fees to increase my profits.

  • I will not use foul language or derogatory terminology.

  • I won’t over-promise or under-deliver

  • I won’t exclude you from your website project. You will have the opportunity to feed back and have your comments, thoughts and opinions listened to and actioned throughout the project.

  • I won’t leave you with a website you don’t know how to use. Your finished project will be complemented with a website user manual which has personalised tutorials for your website.

  • I won’t take on any projects which I or my team don’t have the experience to complete. I will be upfront and transparent about the skills needed and where possible, will recommend you another professional with the correct experience for your specific need.

Feedback

I strongly believe that we can all learn from each other and while I have committed the last decade of my career to marketing and websites, I surely don’t know everything. I am always looking to develop my business practices both, with my customers and the lovely freelancers who work alongside me. The best way I can develop this is through feedback. With all my websites, whether custom built or a Simply Site, I ask for feedback so website owners can feel truly heard during the experience and an affinity with their website. I am also happy to receive feedback at the end of a project, so I can keep working on making my practices a brilliant experience.

I often ask my team for feedback and take on board their opinions of what’s working well for them and This Demanding Life, as well as what’s not working quite so well and what changes they suggest we make.

Feedback can be given over email or booking a call with me.
