Kingston United Reformed Church were looking for an updated website which would complete a range of functions. It needed:
- To be welcoming, diverse and inclusive.
- Not too 'sleek and professional' in design, they didn't want people to feel intimidated to get in touch.
- To have the service information clear and accessible for those wishing to attend in-person or online.
- To detail and link to the charities who use the building and those who are supported by the church.
- To show how they can support people during important life events.
- To give an introduction to the Ministers and support team.
- Give information on the work the Youth Team do and their support and services for children, young people and families.
- Make it easy to get in touch, get copies of Church News and receive daily prayers and devotions.
- Link to the main URC website.
I worked with a team of church elders to compile the website contents. Amy and I created the branding together, basing it around the bright blue brand of the main URC and the relaxed, linen background colour. We chose a palette that was earthy and inclusive.
This was a complete rebuild of the website as the previous one was roughly a decade old and built on a less accessible platform than WordPress. The KURC community now have a website which is mobile responsive, a good reflection of, and access to, their community. They can also make updates to the website easily.
