Being a web designer means I don’t need a lot of tools but I do need them to be good quality. I’ve been a Mac lover since 2007 and would be completely lost without my MacBook. I also work off a Desktop but am happiest on the sofa with my MacBook on my lap.
Most of my websites are built using WordPress and I’m a big fan of the Avada theme – if you haven’t heard of it, check it out, the Fusion Builder is incredibly powerful and allows for unique, custom built sites without having to faff around with too much code (the Avada developers make sure of it). I’m also a fan of the Contact Form 7 (an oldie but goldie) and Yoast SEO plugins.
I like to keep things simple and not overcomplicate things; here is a list of my day-to-day tools:
Quicktime Player – for recording tutorials
Skype & Zoom – For online meetings & discovery calls
Chrome – my favourite browser to build in.
iPhone – Syncs with my MacBook and iMac
Mac Mail – for handling my email accounts
Preview – for editing graphics & images
WP Review Plugin – for pulling reviews from Social Media platforms into websites
Envato Elements – for sourcing images, fonts and video templates
Facebook – for marketing
Trello – for managing the content of my websites & collaborating with my team
