I stumbled across The Mental Illness Happy Hour podcast via the iTunes top rated chart. It took me a little while to get into but once I did, I was hooked and I have now been listening to it for the last 9 months. During this time I have been blown away by some of the guests and their stories that they share with the audience.
In January Paul Gilmartin (the podcast host) announced that he was coming to the UK (and other parts of Europe) and was looking for people to interview, if anyone had a story that they wanted to or were able to share then to please get in touch.
Having ummed and ahhhed about whether to or not, I spoke to my friend Lisa, who has her own podcast (the SuperMum Podcast) who told me to apply…… I might not get chosen and I can always pull out.
With this in mind and knowing that I didn’t have to follow through on anything I went onto the Mental Pod Website and contacted Paul. He replied, said that he was overbooked for London but would put me on his reserve list and I may hear from him, I may not.
Being a positive person, it didn’t occur to me that the interview wouldn’t come off and sure enough, a couple of weeks ago I received an email from Paul asking if I could make a date in early May.
That was last week. I won’t tell you what we discussed in the interview, but will share the link when it comes out. It was an incredibly empowering experience to be able to talk about life from the inside. Rather than the achievements that we outwardly cling to, to be able to discuss with Paul what goes on in our heads when achieving these things. So anyone who is interested in life from the other side of my website watch this space……. and in the meantime, go check out the other episodes of Paul’s podcast.
