When having a new website built, or an existing one redesigned, how you feel about the experience will come down to what the process has been like.

A website designer who doesn’t communicate well or keep to agreed timescales will invariably have clients who feel stressed or short changed by the experience.

A website designer who communicates clearly, keeps clients regularly updated and delivers on time will have happy clients who recommend them over and again.

In my years working as a website designer I’ve honed and perfected my process to make sure they’re a great experience for both, my clients, and me so websites are communicated well, delivered on time and my clients love the experience.

Here’s how the process works

We’ll make sure we’re a good fit.

We’ll do this on Zoom. You can expect to cover: What type of website you’d like, any design ideas or concepts you/I have. I’ll also walk you through the process and what to expect.

I’ll email you a summary of what we discussed

A price for the project and my terms of services so you’re aware of timescales and payment terms.

You accept the offer via email

We then setup a meeting on Zoom to plan the content of the website. I’ll let you know what I need from you to get started and we’ll agree a date for you to send me the content (I’ll let you know how to send it in an email following up this call).

Once you’ve sent all the information I’ll email you with a booking date

Which is the date I’ll begin the website build.

Once the build is under way I’ll email you each week

with a link to a video walkthrough of the progress of the website build. I’ll explaining my thinking and reasoning behind the design and I’ll invite you to feedback your thoughts and ideas. Usually the walkthrough would be sent on a Friday and I’d ask for your feedback within 2 working days.

I’ll incorporate any feedback and reflect this in the next design update

Depending on the size of your website, you’ll receive up to 6 weekly updates.

Once the website is in first draft format I’ll send you the final walkthrough video and a link to the website

for you to click around and check things out for yourself. I’ll ask you to look at it on a desktop (we do the mobile responsive settings last) and invite any feedback of final tweaks and changes you may like.

I’ll make the final edits and send you the link for a final check

I’ll also send you an invoice for the balance of the work.

We’ll agree a date to publish the website

and send it live.

You’ll receive an admin login

to the website and your website user manual.

Most website designers won’t break it down into this much detail.  I find transparency and always knowing where you’re at, are huge parts of the website experience and the difference between feeling your website project was successful, or a painful experience.
