In 2023 I setup my Mentoring service. This came after years of advising small business owners in their marketing and processes. During this time I’ve mentored all sorts of business owners, including website developers, shop owners and service providers. We’ve worked on technical aspects like getting a website working more effectively as well as marketing strategy, behind the scenes processes, mindset and everything in-between.

Here's what to expect in a mentoring session with me

It’s not coaching

Coaching is amazing and I have done some of my best work when being coached. Coaching is fabulous for giving the time, space and support to identify your challenges and unlock the answers. Coaching can help you overcome things like imposter syndrome, drilling down into your career choices and so much more.

Mentoring is about having a goal and being supported in how to get there. During this time I’ll give advice and practical instructions. I’ll listen to the challenges you’re having and support you with the best methods to get there.

We’ll look at the issues you’re looking to overcome

This could be handling challenging clients or getting on top of your processes. Recommending software or processes to help your work feel smoother and less like you’re on the hamster wheel, perpetually going round and never feeling able to get off.

We’ll spend time looking at your marketing; what you’re already doing, what you could be doing more of and how to reach your ideal audience.

We can also look at getting you setup with your systems. Or something else entirely.

Mentoring is designed to get you from A to B

Often in our businesses we’re looking at everything we need to do to get to where we want to be and it’s like looking from the bottom of the staircase all the way up. This would put anyone off and certainly gives a ‘freeze’ response in people. With mentoring we’re working on just climbing the steps in front of you. You don’t need to get to the top of the staircase immediately, just climb the steps one at a time. With support, we’ll identify the next best steps and support you in taking them.

There will be work to do following the session

To get the best results from our mentoring session there will be work for you to do in-between. This isn’t homework but they are goals which will support your development. This might be along the lines of looking at software/processes. Mapping out your thoughts in a shared document, creating some social posts to work on your visibility. It could even be scoping out your next offer for us to talk through in our next session.

We’ll check in regularly

Whilst you’re free to book mentoring sessions as and when things come up for you, I recommend having seven to ten days in-between sessions. That gives us the opportunity to keep the momentum and work through any issues you may be having between sessions. We can also check-in, in-between sessions to make sure things are on track for you and answer any questions.

You’ll feel focused, with an action plan, and ready to go

Working with someone who’s a little further along the path than you currently are always helps. During the session I’ll share my experience, knowledge and tried and trusted methods with you to help you feel confident, focused and excited about the next stages of your business.
